The simple truth: Shoplyste does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal information with us or any third party.

Our Local-First Approach

Shoplyste is designed as a local-first application, which means:

• All your data stays on your device
• No user accounts or registration required
• No authentication or login systems
• No backend servers storing your information
• No cloud synchronization services
• No analytics or tracking of your activity
• No personal data ever leaves your device (unless you choose to share)

What Data Does Shoplyste Store?

Shoplyste stores the following information locally on your device only:

• Shopping Lists: Items, quantities, categories, and notes you create
• Shopping History: Records of your past shopping trips
• Spending Data: Purchase amounts and dates you enter for tracking purposes
• App Preferences: Your settings and customization choices within the app

Important: This data is stored exclusively in your device's local database using SQLite. We have no access to this information, and it never reaches our servers because we don't have any servers collecting user data.

Data You Choose to Share

Shoplyste includes an optional list-sharing feature that allows you to:

• Export a shopping list from the App
• Send it to family members or friends via your chosen messaging app (WhatsApp, iMessage, Email, etc.)
• Allow recipients to import the list into their own Shoplyste app

This sharing is entirely user-initiated and peer-to-peer:

• You control when, what, and with whom you share
• The data is transmitted through your chosen third-party messaging service
• We do not facilitate, monitor, or have access to these shared lists
• The privacy and security of shared data is governed by the messaging service you choose (e.g., WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption)

What Data We DO NOT Collect

We do not collect, access, store, or process:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, address)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Usage analytics or app interaction data
• Crash reports or diagnostic information
• Payment or financial information
• Contact lists or address books
• Camera, microphone, or photo library access
• Any data that identifies you as an individual

Third-Party Services

Shoplyste does not integrate with or use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or data collection services.

The App is built using:

• React Native (Meta Platforms, Inc.)
• Expo (Expo, Inc.)
• Drizzle ORM (open-source database toolkit)

These frameworks operate locally on your device and do not transmit your data to their respective developers.

When you use the list-sharing feature, you utilize third-party messaging apps (WhatsApp, iMessage, Email, etc.) that you choose. Please review those services' privacy policies for information about how they handle data transmission.

Apple App Store Analytics

When you download Shoplyste from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect anonymized, aggregated analytics about app downloads and usage. This data is collected by Apple, not by us, and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

We do not have access to information that identifies individual users through these analytics.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all your data is stored locally on your device:

• You have complete control over your data at all times
• To delete individual items: Use the delete functions within the App
• To delete all data: Simply uninstall the App from your device

Uninstalling Shoplyste will permanently delete all locally stored data, including your shopping lists, history, and spending records.

Data Security

We take your privacy seriously:

• All data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database on your device
• Your device's operating system (iOS) provides additional security layers
• No data transmission to external servers means no risk of server-side data breaches
• We do not have access to your data, so we cannot accidentally leak or misuse it

Your device security is your data security. We recommend:

• Using a strong device passcode or biometric lock
• Keeping your iOS software updated
• Being cautious about who has physical access to your device

Children's Privacy

Shoplyste does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since we do not collect any data, the App can be used by individuals of all ages without privacy concerns.

Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of any mobile applications.

Your Privacy Rights

Because we do not collect any personal information about you:

• There is no data for us to access, modify, or delete
• We cannot provide you with copies of data we don't have
• We cannot sell, rent, or share data that doesn't exist in our systems

You have complete ownership and control over your data through the App's local storage on your device.

International Users

Shoplyste is available worldwide. Since all data processing occurs locally on your device, there are no cross-border data transfers. Your data never leaves your device (unless you choose to share via messaging apps), so international data protection regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and others are satisfied by design.

EU/UK Users: Our local-first approach means we are not a "data controller" or "data processor" under GDPR, as we do not determine the purposes or means of processing your personal data—you do, entirely on your own device.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

• Changes to the App's features
• Updates to legal or regulatory requirements
• Improvements to our privacy practices

When we make changes, we will:
