Shoplyste. How To / FAQ :

Navigate across Shoplyste

  • Use Main Menu :
  • Tap the spherical menu button at the bottom right corner of any screen to reveal navigation options.

  • Get To Active Shopping List Content :
  • Takes you to your currently active shopping list contents or in other words - a Home page - where you can add and check off items.

  • Navigate To Loyalty Cards :
  • Access your wallet of club and loyalty cards.

  • Navigate To My Lists :
  • Manage all your shopping lists and customize your product categories.

  • Navigate To Settings Page :
  • Configure themes, manage your profile, and view your spending tracker.

Manage Shopping Lists

  • Create a new list:
  • Go to Main menu [] > My Lists [ ].
    Or tap on the active shopping list title to open a modal with the list of your available Shopping Lists and tap 'Manage Lists' button at the bottom.
    Start planning your next trip by tapping the '+' button on the Lists screen. Build a new list for groceries, a party, or a project.

  • Rename or Edit:
  • Keep your lists organized and up-to-date.
    Simply tap on any list to reveal keyboard and a blinking cursor, and rename it to your liking.

  • Delete a list:
  • Swipe to delete a list you no longer need.
    Note that deleting a list is permanent and cannot be undone. It is going to remove all items within that list as well.

Manage List Contents

  • Add items:
  • Tap '+' icon at the right corner of the top bar or simply tap on empty area to include a new item. Tap '✔️' to put it in the list.

  • Collect items quickly:
  • Typing a first letter causes prompts to appear from your Product Library helping you collect items faster.
    Every new item you include is saved in your library for next time.

  • Mark items as Done:
  • Check off your items as you put them in your cart. Simply tap on the circle at the left of an item.
    Remember, tapping on the item text itself will open the edit mode, allowing you to change the name or details of the item.

  • Toggle views with     and back with   :
  • Flip between Category/Aisle view and Simple List view.
    While in Simple List view, reorder items by dragging (long-press on handle []).

  • Set Quantity or Category:
  • Swipe left to set quantity (+/-) or assign a Category (folder icon [ ]). Swipe right to delete an item from the list.

  • Delete an item:
  • Swipe right to delete an item from the list.

  • Move all items to a different List:
  • Plan efficiently by moving all items to another list. Press the "Move Items" button underneath your Active List and select the target List.
    Note that this action is going to merge all items with those in the target list.

  • Delete all 'Done' items at once:
  • Press the "Clear Done" button underneath your Active List to remove all items you've checked off.
    Note that this action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Share Lists with Family or Friends

  • Share a List:
  • Collaborate on your shopping lists by sharing them with family or friends.
    Open the list contents you want to share, tap the "Share List" button () at the bottom left of the screen.
    Choose the most convenient messenger to send the Shoplyste export file.

  • Import a List:
  • Tap on the file you received in your messenger to open it with Shoplyste.
    Your Shoplyste opens the file as an Import Confirmation screen which allows you to review the sender's identity,
    date and time, number of items, and target list.
    How imports behave:
    First-time import: a list received from a sender for the first time is saved as a brand‑new list on the recipient’s device.
    Same sender, same list name: incoming lists with the same name are merged into the existing list rather than duplicated.
    Sender updates win: deletions, additions, renames, and check‑offs from the sender replace the previously imported items, while any items added locally by the recipient remain untouched.
    Round‑trip merge: if the recipient sends the list back, the sender’s list merges with the recipient’s items, and checked‑off entries come through as Done.
    Shared session: this behaves more like a shared session than repeated list exchanges.
    Work offline between syncs: both parties can edit autonomously between exports/imports until the next sync.

Manage Product Categories

  • Customize Aisles:
  • Go to Main menu [] > My Lists [ ].
    On the Lists screen, tap a 'carrot' icon [ ] at the top bar to jump to the Categories screen.
    Create unique categories to match the aisles of your favorite supermarket.

  • Reorder Categories:
  • Arrange categories to match your walking path in the store for a faster shopping experience.
    Long-press on handle [] and drag to reorder your categories.
    Note that this order is going to be applied to all your lists for a consistent experience.

  • Rename or Edit Categories/Aisles:
  • Rename or fine-tune your categories/aisles.
    Simply tap on any item to reveal keyboard and a blinking cursor, and rename it to your liking.

  • Delete a Category/Aisle:
  • Swipe right to delete a category/aisle you no longer need.
    Note that deleting a category/aisle is permanent and cannot be undone.
    Do not you worry, the items within that category/aisle will not be removed from your Product Library.
    They will merely be reassigned to "No category".

Loyalty Cards Wallet

  • Add Cards:
  • Lighten your physical wallet.
    Go to the Cards section [ tap Menu toggle button and then - ].
    Tap '+' to add your club and loyalty cards.
    You can either make photo of the card or make a screenshot of your Apple Wallet.
    Then add your photo or the screenshot from your photo library, crop it to fit and save.

  • Use Cards:
  • Tap on any card in your stack to display its barcode at the checkout.

Spending Tracker

  • Record Spending:
  • To save your spending after shopping, press the "Total Spent" button.
    It is accessible either from your Active List Page just underneath the list or from the Loyalty/ Club card view.
    Enter the total amount you spent and save it to keep track of your expenses.

  • Analyze History:
  • Navigate to Settings [ tap and then - ] > Spending Tracker to view your transactions, monthly totals, and daily averages.
    You can filter your history by a date range and a chosen shopping list.
    You can select as many shopping lists as you want to analyze your spending across different types of shopping trips.

Settings & Personalization

Navigate to Settings [ tap Menu toggle button and then - ]

  • Manage Profile:
  • Create a profile in Settings to enable sharing features with friends and family.
    Your profile can be seen only by those you share your lists with and it is not public.
    You will need to complete the "email or phone" field to be able to share lists with others as it serves as your unique ID in peer to peer communication. However, you can choose to put in any nickname identifier and not bother with emails or phone numbers if you do not want to.

  • Choose your preferred Theme:
  • Switch between System, Light and Dark themes in Settings to suit your preference.

  • Product Library:
  • You can view all the items you've ever added to your lists in your Product Library.
    From there, you can assign items to categories with swipe left, or delete them from your library with swipe right.
    The saved items are going to be suggested to you as you type in the item name while adding new items to your lists, making it faster to collect your shopping list contents.
